Coast Dental offers Invisalign to patients looking for discreet orthodontic treatment
At our Christies Beach dental practice we offer Invisalign. This orthodontic option uses a series of clear aligners over twelve to twenty-four months to straighten your teeth.
When you visit Coast Dental in Christies Beach for your initial consultation one of our dentists will assess your oral health and determine what the best orthodontic option for your teeth is.
The advantage of Invisalign is there are no brackets or wires bonded to your teeth.
This means no elastics; no tightening appointments; no constant hygiene appointments to help prevent your teeth from staining.
The clear aligners are custom made to suit your needs, and you will wear a new pair every two weeks. Generally, we will provide you with three months’ worth of aligners so you don’t have to visit us too often. Each set of aligners will move your teeth a fraction towards your intended goal.
The benefit of Invisalign being removable is that it will not impact your professional or personal life. Three advantages of Invisalign being removable are:
1. Maintaining oral hygiene
This advantage ties into the second advantage: when you eat you take out your aligners. You then can brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners back in. Which means fewer dental appointments and no chance of having tan lines around where brackets were bonded to your teeth.
2. No impact on your diet
Traditional braces will make your teeth and gums sore for the first week or so as your teeth get used to the braces. This does not happen with Invisalign. You can remove the aligners so you don’t have to revert to a soft-food diet for a few weeks. It also means you don’t have to worry about brackets breaking, elastics snapping or wires bending.
3. Metal-free smile
Invisalign are clear aligners. For professionals who spend a lot of time in meetings, in front a crowd or camera; Invisalign is a great option to discreetly straighten your smile. As long as you comply with your Coast Dental dentists instructions—that is, as long as you wear the aligners for the prescribed hours per day—you can remove them for meetings so no one will know you’re getting orthodontic treatment.
Compliance is vital
This is less a disadvantage of Invisalign and more one of the things that should be considered before, say, opting for your teenager to have this treatment. On average, your Coast Dental dentist may recommend you wear the aligners for 20-22 hours a day to obtain the best result. If you chose not to comply with this it can either draw out the treatment or the results won’t be as good as originally indicated. There is Invisalign for Teens which have compliancy indicators on them to ensure the aligners are being worn as often as they should be.
This is how we bring
your smile back
During your first consultation we take an in-depth look at the existing issues, immediate problems and most importantly – what causes the current dental issues (if there are any). We will also discuss the treatment options, payment plans, your availability and any other things that may concern you.
Treating immediate issues
We first focus on the issues that cause you discomfort or pain. Having that done first ensures that we prevent and monitor any issues that may become worse over time, thus saving you time, money and your teeth!
Treating other dental issues
We then move along the discussed plan, while keeping you informed. This way you know exactly what is happening with every step of the way.
Prevention and oral health management
This is the most important step. Based on your exact dental history we may recommend an array of options to help prevent future issues from occurring. We will also help you manage ongoing issues (if there are any).
